The Retainer begins where the Audit ends. I already know your landscape, your key relationships, your visibility gaps, and your strategic priorities. We do not start from scratch. The Retainer must begin within one month of completing the Audit.

Six sessions

Over three months

Two sessions per month on average, though you use them however the situation demands. Some months will be more intensive. Others lighter. The sessions are yours to deploy as the landscape requires.

Ongoing contact

Short voice notes or messages when something urgent surfaces and you need a quick read before you act. This is not unlimited access, but it is the kind of real-time support that makes the difference when timing matters.

A running brief

I maintain a running brief of your landscape across the three months, tracking how the dynamics shift so that each session builds on the last rather than starting fresh.

Why do I need to complete the Audit first?

The Retainer works because I already know your landscape when we begin. The Audit gives me the full picture of your organisation, your key relationships, and the dynamics at play. Without that, we spend the first month building context that the Audit would have given us in two weeks. The Audit is not a prerequisite for administrative reasons. It is what makes the Retainer worth what it costs. The Retainer must also begin within one month of completing the Audit. Political landscapes shift, and if too much time passes, the picture the Audit drew may no longer reflect what is actually happening.

What is the difference between the Retainer and Journey Coaching?

Journey Coaching is for clients who have completed a coaching package and want lighter-touch ongoing support. The Retainer is a different order of engagement entirely. It is sustained, strategic, and focused on the political landscape around you rather than your internal experience. The depth of involvement, the between-session contact, and the running brief make it a fundamentally different kind of relationship.

What if my situation resolves before three months?

That is a good outcome. If the immediate situation is resolved, the remaining sessions can be used to consolidate what you have learned, map what comes next, or simply kept in reserve. The three-month container is fixed regardless of how the situation unfolds.

Is everything confidential?

Yes, completely. Nothing you share is disclosed to anyone without your explicit permission. Many Retainer clients are navigating situations that cannot be discussed inside their organisation. That is precisely what this is for.

Can I renew after three months?

Yes. If the landscape still requires sustained attention at the end of three months, we can discuss a further engagement. Renewal is not automatic. We assess together whether continued Retainer support is the right structure or whether the situation calls for something different. Clients who move on after the Retainer are eligible for Journey Coaching, which provides lighter-touch ongoing support when specific moments arise.
